Cobra,
Anything anyone posts here is quotable, no one has a copyright on a post, as it is written in a public forum. Be my guest.
Go to the site in your click-thrus, PMWC, or whetever, the one with "electromigration" explained, re-read the one line which says it is a result of temperature and high current density. The "high current density" is the result of boosting buss freq. without compensating voltage increase.
It is UNDERvoltage causing the temp rise, and the current rise and electromigration. Balance the voltage and the freq. to keep the current low enough, and, theoretically, the sky is the limit, as the supercooler clique will show, the guys using liquid nitrogen and the like prove. If you can carry the heat off efficiently ( that being in a price/perfomance ratio you are happy with ) you can do as you wish with minimal chance of damage.
Practically speaking, for most of us, maybe 20 % is the best to hope for, without radical cooling schemes.
I bought an A7V8X-X, just because the price was in my range, with enough PCI slots for all the cards I need, cap card, 2 ATA cards, etc. Don't like the 2 and 3 slot.
Cheers,
George

George,
I didn't quote you because I didn't read this in time. I did, however, give you a specific mention as being the person who enlightened me.
The new site is now available, and has a lot more detail on it than before.
The A7V8X-X is a nice motherboard. Remember it supports only DDR333, but since it's an XP2400 (therefore FSB133) you still have FSB overclocking as an option, which is good.
I now understand the reasons behind core voltage not producing any extra heat. I made a very specific and bold point of this in the guide, and I have also made people aware that the previous guide was inaccurate.
Thanks again, and enjoy the site!
