  1. I've been ripping DVDs lately with DVD Shrink and I know I've set the parental lock somehow on my DVD player and I don't remember the code and the company isn't of any help....

I can play originals with my player but can't play any movies ripped with DVD Shrink as it always pops up the "Parental Lock" screen.

Even Kung Pow and The Cat In The Hat did that!

Anyone knows how to remove the parental lock setting on a ripped DVD? Also my DVD Player plays my friend's ripped DVDs flawlessly!

  2. Sorry, I do not mean to sound annoying but no one knows? At all?

A tip, a cue, a hint, anything would help!

I'd check the manual to begin with. Most of these have a default override code (can't remember what my pioneer's is, but I know there is one). You should be able to use this to change the code back or turn it off. I'd be pretty pissed off at the company for not helping out on this.

The only other suggestion would be to look at a different ripper that might over come this problem. Try DVD Decrypter to rip, then shrink to burn and see if it makes a difference.

  6. Well, I've checked the manual and nothing! I contacted the company and they told me there wasn't a universal unlocking code! They told me the procedure to "reset" the until but it was no help....

Also, I ALWAYS rip my DVDs first with DVD Decrypter and THEN, shrink it since DVDShrink always give me the "Cyclic Redundancy Error" when trying to rip from ANY DVD.

Also regarding the parents, I would suspect the parents of a 21 year old guy, working and living in his own appartment wouldn't know a thing about this lock

  9. Just an update for those who, like me, wanted to know.

I tried something in IFOEdit. I loaded the Video_Ts.IFO in the program and then selected:

    - VMG_PTL_MAIT

Then, you select first: "Parental mask for Parental Level 8 in VTS 0"

You double-click on it and you simply change its value to 0.

You put the value to everything under that until you reach "Parental mask for Parental Level 1 in VTS [number of your last VTS]". In my case, it was the last one.

    Then it worked
