I'm using a Sony TRV33 camcorder and are having problems outputing the video back to the camera after editing it. I've tried using Premiere and even Pinnacle studio 9 with the same results. The camera recognizes the software and starts to record but all I see is the blue screen on the LCD display. And once in a while some of the video shows up for a second and then back to the blue screen.

I have the camera set to VCR and on the LCD it says "DV IN". What else should I do? Could it be the firewire card? It's a basic $25 card.

    Thanks

    Hi DVMaster,

I've seen this kind of problem reported before, and it turned out to be the cable - but you need to try various combinations of camera / cable / card on your PC and a friend's similar PC to eliminate / determine the cause.

    Trial and error...

Well I am planning on purchasing a Ads Pyro card but the cable that I have now is a Belkin. It is a high quality cable. I can caputure the video from the camcorder to PC perfectly so I 'm not sure it's the cable, but than again you never know.

I've been trying to find other people that had this problem on google but can't seem to find any topics on this issue.

    Hi DVMaster,

Your comment " I can caputure the video from the camcorder to PC perfectly" made me remember exactly what it was: it was the specific firewire port on the card, in fact, I think it was one of the pins.

It could do cam -> PC OK, but not back again. Pretty much exactly the same thing as you describe.

Of course, yours could be different, but worth mentioning... So, if you have more that one forewore port try another.

    Good luck...

Thanks for the reply. I have 3 ports and tried them all. None of them work. Now I'm thinking that it might be the firewire card. It's made by Manhattan with a VIA chip. It's just a basic firewird card, nothing special about it. Hmm....

As you can see many people are having the same problem. I came across another forum with the same issues...
