What should I be looking for? I heard that the Ads Pyro firewire cards are great but only work with the bundled software. Is this true? From reviews the software is very basic and not good.
Is there a prefered chipset that is better than the rest or are they all the same for transfering video. Also what is the advantage over having real time effects with some firewire cards? Aren't they just just for transfering video from camcorder to PC?
Thanks

I have the ADS Pyro card installed in my system using the Windows XP driver with no problems. Capture video through the card with Premiere 6.5.
I also have a second system with a cheap generic card (CompUSA) and it also works without a hitch. -
