  1. While converting a avi movie file with AC3 audio to mpeg1, I keep getting Invalid Pointer Operation. I tried several avi file and got the same result. I used divx 5.05 and recently installed the AC3 decompressor. It is on my PII centeron.

Is it the codec? If so, what is another codec I can use?
Is it the machine, too slow?

I used VirtualDub to verify for errors, but it did not detect anything. As an alternative, I used Virtual Dub to save the wav file and use TMPGenc to convert back to mpeg1 but there was no audio after 1/3 of the movie started.

Can anyone shed some light here?

    Thanks,

    Rage

  2. Your machine is slow but I used to convert to mpeg1 on my AMD K6 II so it ain't your machine IMHO. For troublesome avi files try frameserving the video via vdub.

  3. As above, but I would also suggest scanning the file for bad frames also.

  5. 1. Try to increase your DirectShow Multimedia Reader plugin priority

    2. Use VirtualDub to extract the audio to .wav and then use that for Audio Source in TMPGEnc

    3. Do the same as above except after you extract the audio, select Audio>WAV Audio from the menu & frameserve to TMPGEnc
