I have a few MOV stockvideo files. When i open them in quicktime they're all smooth and nice but as soon as i export them as DV they get a little choppy. Same thing if i import them into FCP or imovie..they start to lag... what is this?? i really want to use them.. but it doesnt look good like this..![]()

It may be your hard drive. How much free space do you have? Have you ever defragged with a utility like Speed Disk? at 25 mbps, DV video should be plenty smooth foing from harddrive to display, but try a little disk maintenance just in case. If you know someone with a good capacity and external firewire drive, try transferring the dv files there and playing them. Also try making very small files say 10-30 seconds long and seeing if they play smoothly.

How much RAM and disk space do you have? The only time I had problems with DV encoding is when my primary disk was low on space. Without enough scratch disk space Quicktime might be having problems with the encode. Also are you encoding from a CD/DVD or have you copied the MOV to your hard drive before encoding to DV?
