OK I know nothing about any of this i do not have a dvd burner on my computer i just bought the Panasonic DMR-E80H it does dvd-r and dvd-ram and has an 80g hard drive i wanted to know how to back up dvd I cant do it ,it says can not copy I tried reading in the how to but I am lost some one please help me or point me in the right direction thank you Jester

The DMRE-80 detects the built-in copy protection in commercial DVD's. You must put a device in between your player and recorder like the Sima copymaster.

First, it will not allow you to copy a commerical (copy protected) disc directly. You will have to use an external disc player which will output without copy protection (built in or hacked) or use an electronic video stabilizer.
Second, if you want to do it on the PC, you will need a dvd rom drive at the very least. Search in the "Guides" section (in the green section to the left directly under "How To".

ok what sima copier should i get are there any that get rid of type 1 nad 2 macrovision I just want to do this on my recorder not computer until i finish building my new computer thank you i will keep reading thank you Jester
