  1. I'm trying to import some VOB files from a DVD my friend authored. Except DVD Workshop 2 gives an error and says the disc must either be corrupted or copy protected. Except the disc is fine and this is home shot video (so it can't be copyrighted). I would use the original files but they were deleted off my friends hardrive. Please Help.

    - Thanks

Have you tried ripping the files to your hard drive?

  5. No, I thought that would result in greater quality loss. However, if I am wrong please correct me.

Not if you don't re-encode it.

  8. Ok, I ripped the VOB files to my hardrive but I still can't import them into DVD Workshop 2 (it gives the same error message). Now what do I do?

  9. Do I have to somehow extract the mpg2 video files and if so how do I go about doing this?

  10. Depending on the specific files in question, you can sometimes re-name the .VOB extension.

    Simply change it to .MPG.

    Have you tried that?

  11. Hey that seemed to do the trick I can at least import the video now. I will have to redo all of the chapter points but at least its usable. I've been playing around with other VOB files and DVD Workshop 2 will not let me import any of them. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if there is some sort of fix for this. Thanks for the help.

  12. Glad that worked for you.

I don't have any problems importing the raw MPEG video/audio data from either .VOB or .VRO (DVD-RAM) files.

I'm running Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0 with the latest 2.011 patch applied.

If you haven't already downloaded and applied the patch, it can be accessed on the Web page at the following link:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm

Also, please be aware that even if you could get the IMPORT DVD VIDEO function to work properly, you would find out that chapter points are interpreted as cut-points in the video that is imported.

So more than one MPEG video file would be imported - depending on how many chapter points were detected.

  13. Thanks again for the help. I do have the patch applied but it still won't let me import any VOBs. My other question was since I have to import the VOBs as individual MPGs how do I get them to appear as one Title and not one title for each file imported? Do I have to combine the files in a video editor first?

  14. Yes.

There's no way to join MPEGs in Ulead DVD Workshop.

So I use a video editor such as Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0.
