  1. Hi

My problem is when trying to make a non-compliant SVCD eg. 480x480 but at 25fps. I reduce the bitrate to fit onto an 80min CD-R and encode the video. The resulting file size is about 780MB.

The problem is when dragging into Nero. Nero checks and says it is non-compliant, fine, but when I click on continue Nero indicates the file is too large for the CD.

I am trying to preserve resolution and not convert from PAL to NTSC.

Am I missing something here ? Any ideas would me most appreciated.

    Thanks

780 MB is OK for an 80 min CD. I don't use nero, try VCDEasy. You can create a bin with VCDEasy and burn that with nero if you like.

I highly doubt that any stand alone DVD player can properly handle a 25fps 480x480 SVCD disc.

It just dosn't make any sense!

PAL SVCD is 480x576 at 25fps
NTSC SVCD is 480x480 at 29.970fps or 23.976fps with 3:2 pulldown

You already have NTSC resolution if it is 480x480 so you might as well convert the frame rate to NTSC spec.

Otherwise you are asking for problems.

    I missed that, you're right.

It can probably still be authored with VCDEasy, it may not play though.

Whenever I've had this problem, I ended up using the wrong Stream Type under the System tab of TMPGEnc (when you press the Setting button). I've ended up using "MPEG-2 Program (VBR)" instead of "MPEG-2 Super VideoCD". To fix it I just re-multiplex the mpeg as "MPEG-2 Super VideoCD".

Afterwards it should fit in Nero. But as FulciLives said it might not play on most standalones.
    Happy to be here.

I second this. Your DVD player should do the NTSC-> PAL conversion on the fly.
    If in doubt, Google it.
