    Getting back to the topic at hand ...

    Another thing that annoys me are people that try to capture direct to DivX/Xvid with MP3 audio and then ask for help because it isn't working good quality wise or audio sync wise etc.

    Like DUH !!!!!!!!

    Or how about that recent post about someone wanting to hook up 2 LCD screens and a TV (surround porn someone said) or the post about putting HDTV on a DVD at HD resolution but with a header patch.

    OK how about this for a Pet Peeve:

    You type up a HUGE long ass post.

    You have to preview it a ballizion times to make sure it looks good. Maybe you did a lot of quotes in it and have to make sure you got the formating right. You want to check your grammer and spelling. You want to make sure any links you made work correctly. Maybe you have to post several pictures etc.

    Maybe half way through you take a shit.

    30 minutes later you finally post your perfect post.

    In the meantime one or more persons have answered it already!

    - John "FulciLives" Coleman

    P.S.
    Maybe your post was nearly perfect but you caught something that was wrong and you just have to go edit it ... now your post says it was edited and you know people are going to be thinking why it was edited and you wonder if you should say why you edited it or just leave it and hope maybe no one notices that you edited it or maybe you should have just done another post instead of editing the post but you already edited the post so now you are second guessing yourself and you wonder if you still look as cool as other users who don't edit their posts and then you realize you have no life.

    P.S.S.
    Sucks when you have to edit more than once because you missed something on the first edit that you should have caught before you even posted it the fisrt time.

    *** EDIT ***
    This thread has been edited and is now in a FINAL version ... I think.

    Among others (I guess) it was the second post in this thread (first page) and the response to fulci; I edited them both.
    The moderator was right, I use it too much to emphasise my mood, not good.

    there is nothing more annoying than the file you are watching dropping seconds at a time because people cap Divx in real time......

    actually, equally annoying is people capping at (say) 25fps with 44khz audio and then producing a 12fps file with 8khz audio! ARGH!!! they just don't get it! what do they think the bitrate controls are for?! controlling toast browness?

    (@Fulci, you posted between me hitting reply and my reply window coming up! you bastard! on the same vein, i hate typing up a massive post, getting 404'd, hitting back and my glorious post is GONE! anyone know of an app that i can leave running in the background to log all my keypresses?)

    Edited to swear at Will Hay:

    **** YOU WILL HAY!
    you posted after Fulci but before i had finished typing. you utter, utter, bastard.

    That guy must have time on his hands - or be an insomniac!

    @ Will

    I understand your point but I feel that it is not necessary or helpful
    to play the polite card when managing others. I just watched this
    silly DVD starring "The Rock" called trouble in the jungle. There are
    these monkeys that attack the two heroes and attempt to 'hump them'
    in order to show their dominance. Now if you were threatened with
    such a monkey humping, what would you do. Me I'd never swear again.

    Sometimes a good monkey humping gets the results that being
    polite wont.

    Oh I sooooooooooooooooooooooo hate that ... having the "**** up" and BOOM your post is gone ... when I type up a REALLY long post I will almost always highlight and copy it before I preview/post it JUST in case that happens.

    - John "FulciLives" Coleman

    P.S.
    I also hate when you edit a post due to a spelling/grammer issue etc. but while you are editing it someone QUOTES it and they QUOTE the un-edited version then you hit POST and your edited FIXED version is there but the QUOTE is the un-edited **** up hehehe

    I think for the rest of the thread we should continue talking by each of us simply editing the last post we made.

    That would make for a fun and interesting time

    PCM audio capture on ATI can make audio drift. The card is MPEG optimized, audio included. Indolikaa got lucky it worked good for him.

    My langauge on a very small percentage of posts has been colourful, and it was edited accordingly.
    I will not however be ensuring every single word I use will not cause offence.
    I remember one moderator saying some is acceptable, and this is the line I'll be 'towing', as it were.

    Indolikaa's Guide to dvdrhelp.com Newbies

    Rule 5 - The Off-Topic Forum

    dvdrhelp.com is a happenin' social scene, with more attitude and groove than a Friday-night Greek vinyl-grind with DJ SatStorm at the platter and a unlimited supply of Ouzo flowin' from the table. Not all of us, however, are as thick-skinned as others. Think, before you post. Know your environment, and know your enemy. Here are some guidelines for your first foray into the Off-Topic forums.

    * offline.
    Lurking in the shadows as an unidentified 'Hidden' user, he quietly waits for the perfect time to enter the thread and bitch-slap any who cross the path of The Book According to Baldrick. Be wary, his is a world of 24-hour drive-thru fried chicken and a wireless cloud that would make a Kansas thunderstorm in July look small. He's always open for business.

    * FulciLives.
    Be not afraid, for his loyalty to Japanese media is the result of not remembering whether it's Taiwan or Tiawan, nothing more. Zombie Face, with his ever-changing Router Table Reconfiguration Protocol, exists only to those who can understand his mysterious ways. Be mindful, apprentice, for one wrong step and the Zombie's army will descend upon you like Rosie O'Donnell at the Red Lobster Shrimp Fest, leaving nothing consumable in their path.

    * Capmaster.
    What, you think we need to discuss this in detail? He likes vinyl sheep and midget clown porn. If you can't see the danger here, it's time to PM adam and have him take care of business now, before you lose what sanity you still have.

    * DVD-R versus DVD+R.
    You're not an expert in this hobby until you've run from this thread licking your wounds. There is no way to prepare yourself. Speak your mind, take your beating like a man, and move on with your life.

    * LordSmurf.
    If you think for one smurfing minute that this smurf won't take his smurfing smurf and stick it straight up your smufing smurf, you've got another smurf coming. Knolwedge is power, and in the real world, LordSmurf is like Mark McGuire on an andro dive. Kind, courteous and polite, but ready to smurf your smurfing smurf faster than Anna Nicole Smith at McDonald's.

    * Warez.
    You're not that ******* stupid, are you?

    * FOX News.
    Don't go there. You can count the number of enlightened people on this forum with the fingers on your right hand. Keep it simple, they do better with one-word ideas like CNN. Just don't confuse them with diffucult concepts like 'Fair and Balanced' or 'two sides to every story.'

    * jeex.
    What are you waiting for? Didn't you see how he was talking about your mother?

    * The Best Media Is...
    Taiyo-Yuden. And anybody who says otherwise is a misguided, unprincipled, puppy-skinning, child-beating, roach-sucking, Democratic miscreant who needs an ass-whipping so bad there isn't an army big enough to administer the proper dose.

    * northcat_8.
    Don't be fooled by his pathetic spelling and grammar. One day your young children might find themselves under his iron-fisted views of the proper educational instruction methods. And then your wife will divorce you, your dog will piss on your favorite leather chair, and you'll wish you'd never visited this website.

    These are some basic guidelines to assist you in your first visit. Please feel free to check back with this website for updates.

    Let us move on to Rule 6...

    You hurt my feelings. First of all, you mention these attributes like they're a bad thing and like you've never downloaded pics of a three-ring cluster-**** ....with animals.

    I know how your mind works, Indy, and I, too, used to philosophise about the merits of first-strikes against any country with a foreign accent. Until the kind doctor showed me the benefit of electroshock therapy ....although now I drool a lot, salute barber poles and am heard to mutter "Booyah" repeatedly when alone in public.

    You neglected to add a warning about Indolikaa in your noob guide. Maybe an entry like this:

    * Indolikaa.
    Waits for that ill-advised stupid comment which opens up the unwary noob to a relentless, dizzying barrage of humiliation which leaves the noob's thought centers as devastated and barren as Frenchman's Flat in the late '50s. All the while plugging Taiyo Yuden media. A borderline personality, to be sure, so tread carefully here, young whelp

    I thought y'all had a 24-hour fried chicken chain down there. Red Rooster, maybe? Anyway, we had some Australians who played volleyball for UNM in the early 1990's, and I remember one of them joking about getting their friend chicken fix at weird hours of the night.

    So I have this mental picture of 'offline' cruisin' around Melbourne at night, hittin' the chicken shacks while surfing the WiFi cloud (probably cruisin' down Spencer Street and throwing your bones out the window as you pass by the Atlantis Hotel, no doubt) and handin' out yellow cards like there's no tomorrow.

    Just an idle image that popped into my head. That's all.
