People that give a list of credentials like I actually give a shit. "I'm a lawyer. I have an IT job. I'm a chemist. I'm A+ certified. I'm a video pro. I have a degree. I have fifty degrees. I am God." Blah blah blah blah blah. STFU.

People that don't like the honest answer, so instead whine, gripe and moan. Or worse, bash. "What do you mean I need a TBC? The product is supposed to help me illegally convert all the rental tapes."

People that ask "what is best" as if there's some master list somewhere.

People that think DVD-R is a MINUS symbol. Bought any CD-MINUS-R discs lately? Follow me class "DEE VEE DEE ARRRR" and then the other one is "DEE VEE DEE PLUS ARRR". Really hit those ARRR's like Captain Hook would do.

People that unduly blame a product when it's really just an error between the chair and the keyboard. Especially when it's a well respected product. "My DVD minus are burner made a bad burn. This format must be bad. I hate it. You all suck. You're all wrong. Losers. Wahhhh. I want my mommy."

Spell checkers. And spell checkers that misspell while trying to correct.

People that report warez when it's vague at best. "He said XVID, so it must be illegal. He said Kazaa, the sky is falling!"

Newbies that know everything, yet ask the dumbest questions. "I helped invent MPEG. And I have a big pecker. Now then, what firmware let's me turn my CD-RW drive into a DVD-RW drive?"

Which brings to mind another one: people that think I care about the dimensions or attributes of their genitalia. Keep your magic wand in your pants.

People that PM me their life story. "My little girl did the cutest things today, blah blah blah blah." STFU. Brief, dammit, brief. Else I hit DELETE.

People that write novels instead of posts.

People that ask me to upload files, samples, software, etc to my site, as if I had unlimited bandwidth and nothing better to do with my time.

People that make no donations and then bitch about features found (or not found) on this site or mine. Free, *******, free! Beggars can't be choosers. Want more? Stuff money in my face, and watch me work.

People that have crap for hardware, and then get mad that their video experience is not as enjoyable as mine. "My P2 with an ATI AIW 4MB card won't run ATI MMC 9.0. Help! You're my only hope."

People with no sense of humor. Go away, you depress me.

PEOPLE THAT TYPE IN ALL CAPS. Fix the CAP LOCK key you idiot!

People that type ONE HUGE paragraph.

People that have not found the punctuation symbols on the keyboard.

Ppl uzng rong wrds. Thngs liek l8r & pls. USE ******* WORDS! Go back to your chat room with the other teenagers.

Asking for my "IM" or "AIM" or "ICQ" address for "faster communication" ... as if I'm you're personal tech tutor and am always online to serve. I hate chat, that junk is not on my PC. Maybe if somebody paid me $75 or more per session I'd rethink that approach.

"Can I send you an attachment?" I don't think so. Upload it, and send me a link. Cannot do that? Tough.

"What guides?" I'm in such disbelief at this that I never know what to say.

Asking questions that could be answered by searching the forum, searching the site, or even just browsing a glossary or guide.

People that give bad reviews for a product because "it didn't make a good Princo burn" or "the color is too silver for my tastes" as if the product is to blame for the boneheaded actions of the owner.

People that burn a 4x DVD at 8x and then blame the media for a bad burn. Well, as my sister used to say, NO SHIT SHERLOCK!

People that care about post count. I have what... 3700 posts or so? And it means... what? I'm an expert? No. I have no life? No. I have too much free time? Maybe, but no. IT ONLY MEANS ONE THING: That I asked a question, answered a question, or made a general comment exactly 3700 or so times. Nothing more. Nothing less. Those that are angry at high or low posts are probably the same guys that look between their legs and measure with a ruler, as if anybody really cares.

IMPATIENT PEOPLE! I hate them. I hope they NEVER get what they want. Have a little patience, and good things will evntually come your way. My life to date has been an exercise in patience, and still is. So this just rubs me the wrong way. This often include those that BUMP within the same day.

    I think I'm done venting.

LordSmurf's rant was funny as hell and yes Craig I caught the irony as well hehehe

However I have something important to address and that is Will Hay's post about WAREZ etc.

I'm sorry but I don't feel that way. Maybe because it hits too close to home because YES I have tried to bait people into saying what it was they downloaded (though not in a direct way) and then reported the link and/or made fun of them when it was WAREZ.

Usually you can sort of tell from the wording (even if no movie name is given) if it is WAREZ like saying the file type is TMD or something stupid like that.

But lately we have a situation here ... don't we?

We report it and we look "stupid" when a mod thinks otherwise and does nothing. Then we are too sensitive.

If we make fun of the person in the thread and don't report it we get in trouble ... even if it was WAREZ ... I do recall seeing a THREAD where some users did that and got a warning. Hmmm ...

We see what looks like WAREZ but not 100% sure so we don't report or what?

I feel like I'm on thin ice here with what I'm about to say but I don't advocate WAREZ unless we are talking about something you can't otherwise get such as last week's episode of <insert TV show here> that you missed for any variety of good reasons. Maybe a movie that was released eons ago and is now out-of-print and the only way to get a real copy is to pay $500 on eBay (SALO anyone?)

But I have no remorse for someone that downloaded something like a MOVIE that is on DVD but instead they download for free and THEN they have the NERVE to ask for help because SURPRISE they can't convert it. Half the time it is user error half the time the file is just fucked be it a bad encode or corruption from everyone and his little brother downloading it.

I especially hate those that are trying to convert something to DVD from a DivX/Xvid when I know it is something that is on DVD ... usually these posts even say it was downloaded.

    Like what the ****?

If they had the DVD why would they be converting a DivX/Xvid to DVD when they can just back it up with DVDShrink or DVD2ONE or what have you.

So to me I don't care if it is something only now in theatres or if it is a DVD that came out 4 years ago but can still be bought. If you don't have the DVD or some version of it that you are converting (like a VHS video you are trying to capture and convert to DVD) then don't download it and have the BALLS or the STUPIDITY to ask for help.

Will I love ya baby but you pissed me off with your post . I don't like your attitude on this subject at all.

Not even sure if movies can really be considered warez...'cause with software, you're getting the same quality.
With movies - you're getting some of the worst quality possible when you download.

If it were legal to download any movie, I still wouldn't download them - not only due to my 56k modem connection...but simply that it wouldn't be worth watching.
I'll never really understand why people download movies - there's nothing you can't find that's legit - even the rarest stuff.
And you get most of it a whole lot easier the legal way.

As for SALO, on DVD -

Most of the SALO DVD discs you see on auction sites etc. that claim to be the CRITERION EDITION are bootlegs. They may be really fancy "professional" bootlegs but that is what they are plus consider that the original was a DVD9 disc so no simple ISO READ ISO WRITE here.

Minimum price on eBay for a TRUE Criterion Edition is usually at least $200 and I've seen them go for $500

There is a UK PAL DVD disc of SALO which is only something like 18.99 pounds but hey that ain't the USA NTSC Criterion Edition now is it?

And who wants VHS when a DVD version exists!

As for me I was stupid enough to still think that LD was OK and bought the Criterion LD instead of the DVD ... yeah ... I kick myself about that alot. But in my defense LD was still going strong at that time and DVD was not being 100% accepted by us LaserHeads because of fear of lessor quality due to compression errors etc.

Of course I have the Criterion DVD of THE KILLER which also goes for $200+ on eBay but I'll never get rid of it!

I agree with ya, just saying what's really the point in downloading the movie if it's gonna be worse quality than any of the other options

I have a feeling Salo will be reissued at some point.

I made the mistake of buying a long time out of print movie on VHS released in 1981 for $200 on half.com - it was the legit release but the movie ended up on digital cable just a few months later and they show it all the time now
    Major difference in quality too.
It was one of those situations where I figured a low budget indie of that age would most likely never show up on cable...but I was proved wrong.
Now I'm stuck with the original release - no one would buy off of me now at this point.

You can obtain a lot out of print DVDs here also -
    http://www.moviesunlimited.com/musite/frameset/index.asp?frame=product%2Easp&sku=D33685++

They don't have Salo in stock at this time, but it may turn up.

Yeah, I saw that. But it was too good to chop up shorter.

I mostly meant novels as in ....

Talk about double <edited by WH> standards.
    Warez is warez, period.
I don't give two <edited by WH> how you dress it up, whether you call it time-shifting or not if you miss a show or can't get a movie anymore and you look for it you're committing copyright theft.
With regards unavailable movies there's a reason for that, and you looking for it by other means doesn't make it right.
I never, ever made my point to advocate (or otherwise) warez, that is and never has been the point.
My point is that people such as yourself waste far much of your own time and the moderators time provoking these idiots.
WHAT IS THE POINT, what do you gain?
The simple premise is that you don't discuss it, period, nothing else.
The AUP clearly states this site is here to help you convert, amongst other things, downloaded clips to play on your standalone DVD player.
I've seen many a comment by moderators that until you disclose then there's no problem, a sentiment echoed by Baldrick.
Whilst I had plenty of time for you before now I'll aim this comment at you directly seeing as though you've elected to get so bent out of shape about it, but the simple fact is you have no business discussing these issues with the members who you feel are probably contravening the AUP, it's none of your business.
I'm sick and <edited by WH> tired of banging on about this.
I too have absolutely no time for the idiots that show their stupidity and clearly state their actively involved in downloading warez, but we're not talking about those people.
Whether the others are downloading warez or not is no concern of yours.
As I say, I'm <edited by WH> sick of this, I need some guidance from a few moderators and whatever the outcome I'll happily accept.
After all, this is not my board, nor my rules and this is my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.
