I've been at this for days with no results and I decided to start over...nice and fresh.
I have a DVD (a client's wedding) that I need to correct a spelling mistake. The DVD-R is all I have.
No problems in using DVD-DECRYPTOR to bring in the VIDEO_TS folder over with the VOB files to my hard drive.
I can't seem to find the right tool to convert the VOB files to mpeg2 (with the audio, hopefully in one file without audio sync problems). What tools do you recommend?
I don't use Premiere , but willing to install whatever I have to, to make the corrections (I use Vegas, but it cannot edit mpeg2 files).
What tool do I use to edit mpeg2? ( I just need a add text, maybe add a jpg file as the text backdrop).
The last step would be to burn back to DVD, hopefully with as little loss of quality as possible.
I searched this site over and over and install soo many different tools (womble, tmpenc, maxdvd, fuuse) so lost now...
Help!

Is the error in a menu, or in an overlay/subtitle on the movie itself?
If it's in the menu, it could be easier just to re create the menus.
If it's in the movie, use DVD Decrypter to stream rip the VOBs. This will give you a M2V and AC3 file.
Multiplex the M2V file to a program stream (TMPGenc MPEG Tools to multiplex) and import into Vegas. Or leave as .m2v and use womble.
Womble might be the better choice. Since you can edit a part of the mpeg video, and only encode that part. With Vegas, you would have to re render the whole video.
Ulead makes a few products that can do "smart render" to mpeg streams also. They come with 30 day trials. -
tmpenc dvd author will rip an unprotected dvd back to an mpg2+ac3 file whick can then be reauthored in the same prog or any other

The error is in the video itself. I was using scolling text and mis-typed the bride's name (oops). It's not in any chapter or menus.

As stated RIP the DVD with DVD Decrypter in IFO MODE using STREAM MODE
If you set it up correctly you will extract a single large M2V video file and a single large audio file which will either be WAV, MPA (aka MP2) or AC3 all depending what is on the disc.
You can then fix the video but good luck on fixing scrolling text already IMBEDDED INTO the video. Don't know how you gonna do that hehehe
Then when you are done fixing the video you will have to re-author it from scratch (i.e., re-create the menus and chapters etc.)
