  1. Hi, I have downloaded an .avi file which the encoder inadvertently "squished" from it's original source (presumably a 16:9 ratio) to 4:3. So everything looks tall and thin, so to speak. Is there any tool I could use to "unsquish" it and get it back to its original aspect? I tried using Nero VisionExpress 2 but even telling it to use 16:9 (instead of the default automatic mode) doesn't fix the problem. Thx.

Sounds like the video IS in 16x9 format because then everyone would be too tall and "thin" looking.

Try a media player such as BSPlayer that allows you to change the aspect ratio on playback. Select 16x9 and it should look normal.

IFOEdit, change the 4:3 tag to 16:9 and then play it. Or if it's 16:9, then make it 4:3, just flip it. It may be anamorphic, so try that if all else fails.
