  1. Hello dear friends,

I still don't know what is causing this problem:
I burn dvd's which run perfectly on my two dvd players on the computer. The problem starts when I try to make them run on common dvd players. Three friends of mine tried it out on their machines and it allways gets either stuck or starts stuttering.

Does anyone know if it depends on the players, the disc, the editing program or anything else?!?

I realy need my works to play propperly everywhere!

    Thanks!

    Lozi.

Psychologists theoririze the reason one studders is because they are listening to their own voice while they are speaking. DVD speech classes are $394 per semester hour at Pioneer University....

    Sorry....

If I had to venture a guess, because the discs will play in your PC but not your standalone. I would say that your stand alone players just do not like that media (brand of disc). Some media just aren't compatible with some players. I would suggest you try a little better blank media and see if your results change. A fairly cheap but one that I haven't had any problems with are Maxell and Memorex...but I will be honest it has been 3 years since I have used anything other than RitekG04. Someone else or reading some other posts would give you a better idea of different media that is highly compatible.

Well it could be one of three things but it mostly probably boils down to the type of MEDIA you are using.

1.) Your DVD player is VERY good at playing DVD-R discs (or whatever format you use).

2.) The other DVD players you have tried could either not be compatable with burned DVD discs in general (hardware problem) or they could just be very picky which would be part hardware and part media. Also more DVD players handle DVD-R than DVD+R

3.) You might be using shit media or burning improperly (i.e., using NERO which sucks for DVD video burning).

I suggest you buy some quality DVD media. Just about anything that says MADE IN JAPAN is really good. For DVD-R I would try the 5 or 10 packs of FUJI (which say MADE IN JAPAN and are really Taiyo Yuden brand) or try the MAXELL 10-packs (Walmart usually has them) which are MADE IN JAPAN and just as good as Taiyo Yuden. The FUJI packs can be found at BESTY BUY but remember only the 5 and 10 packs will say MADE IN JAPAN. The packs that say MADE IN TAIWAN are to be avoided. You can also buy Taiyo Yuden brand direct on-line from websites such as RIMA.COM

I don't use DVD+R and if I were you I would stay away from it.

As for burning I would use DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter can ONLY burn from an ISO IMAGE file. If you need an ISO IMAGE file then you can create one from your VIDEO_TS folder of DVD files using a program called ImgTools (be sure to use the classic version of ImgTools).

If that still doesn't work then the other DVD players are SHIT as this method will produce the most compatible burned DVD that is humanly possible with consumer electronics.

    P.S.
If you can help it try not to fill up a DVD disc past approximately 4400MB or 4.3GB otherwise you risk edge errors even on the best of DVD media.

  6. Are you putting labels on the discs you are burning? If so, then see this topic:

Discs that I put labels on always had problems on the stand alone player, although the computer drive could always read them. I removed the labels and they could play in the stand alone.

    But THAT is a trick!

Best to RIP the DVD to the computer before you try to remove a label. Just in case you screw up the DVD you have a back-up you can burn to a new DVD disc.
