  1. Hi

since my kids tend to make scratches on their ps2 game disks, and I can't afford to buy them new games all the time, I have aquired a chip and a DVD burner.
Now trying to make backups of their games, I ran into some trouble. I quess the orignal was already too scratched to make a copy. However, I managed to copy all files to the harddisk, thinking I could avoid burn-errors.

Now I just don't know what format to use. ISO or UDF or something completely else?

I tried making it with ISO, but then the game will not boot on the PS2. I didn't have problems with the other backups!

Anybody who has an answer to this?

  2. the best way to copy your discs is to make image files. if you're going to copy the files off the disc then you're gonna have to rebuild the image using cd/dvd-rom generator.. its not an easy program to find, and its probably illegal to use/have unless you're a licensed software developer by sony.

  4. thanks to you both!

this disk is the only one i have which gives me problems, so buying that diskdoctor might be overdoing it a bit!

Tried to use Nero to make an imagefile, but I get readerror!

The only success so far has been copying the entire content of the DVD to the harddrive! Therefore I am just asking for some help how to get the content back onto a blank DVDR.

Is this not possible at all?

You have to do what jeex said but finding the software is the hard part.

If you get it you can use it for dvds and cd-roms also so you will get a lot of use out of it definitely worth $30

As far as software you can try blindread/blindwrite or clonecd its both software programs are really good at copying badly scratched disks

    Hello,

I have heard you can use software called dvd decrypter, use the iso mode, make an image of it then burn your image with dvd decrypter. its pretty easy one piece of software that you can download for free and thats it, so I hear.

The problems is that you have to reconsturct the iso in the proper file order and format and dvddecrypter will creat an image but it does not create the proper file structure that the ps2 recognizes if you just take files off the harddrive so it wont work.

    Sorry

    Hello,

I have done this before and it does work, but your PS2 has to have a mod chip installed. so far I haven't had any problems with this method. Maybe I'm not understanding the original question.

  9. Why not just use Nero & make a data disk & see if that works. Frankly, almost no one uses your method of putting bare files on a HD. Try using Nero dvd copy instead on the original. ALso if you don't know what mod chip you have there isn't anyway we can tell you what method gets them going.
