xcd extended cd

Hi, I'm quite new to this so can someone please help? I downloaded a bin and cue file the other day, when I burned them to a disc, what was on there was a .dat media file and a .txt file. The text file said it was an extended cd (which i've never heard of), and that it was an xvid format file. I have xvid files, and all the codecs needed to run them, but whenever i try and play this file nothing happens, I just get error messages? I even copied the file to my HD, and re-named it to mpg, nothing then either?

Install this, as well as Ogg Vorbis and then try playing the dat off the cd again.
