  1. Looking to buy another multi-system after trying the Philips DVDR77, which performed poorly when transfering slightly generated VHS (Even thru S-VHS deck and S-Video) This could be an issue with the internal TBC used as I've read.

Read that the Pioneers 210/310 had issues about color washed out thru composite IN (Is this also the case thru VHS Tape/SVHS deck/S-Video In?)
Any comments on Pana E50/60 Multisystem anyone?
Not even too sure about what is really available as TRUE (Not modified) multi-systems out there (NOT converters).
    Other comments/suggestions about multi-systems???

    Thanx

I'm not sure I follow you exactly. What format was(is) the original tape and what were your expectations of the finished DVD?
The Philips machines can record in either NTSC or PAL format if the disc is brand new OR the RW disc you use has had a complete erase in a computer DVD Burner.
I use my old Philips DVDR985 all of the time to put movies that have never been released to DVD....onto DVD and they turn out very nice whether it be S-video or RCA that I used to get the video into the Philips.
If I need the DVD converted from PAL to NTSC(or vise versa) I just put the RW disc in my converting DVD player then back into my Philips since I haven't grasped the computer conversion method yet...

  3. Original tape is either PAL or NTSC. No conversion needed here, just PAL VHS-PAL DVD or NTSC VHS-NTSC DVD. Of course I dont expect those old VHS to turn up fantastic in DVD, but simply be able to transfer it to same quality without additional color shifts/artifacts and dropped frames/jitters, and a good internal TBC on DVD-Recorder should do this. The TBC in Philips DVDR77 does not.
