My DVD+-R bottomes are purple. You should check out the post about the difference between DVDRs and regular DVDs. It has to do with silver foil and purple dye.

No, I don't think so but I am not sure if it is because of technical or legal reasons.

What, so you can sell them to nuffies who don't know that they're burnt ?

Commercial DVDs are either silver or gold as a result of the pressing process. I do not know of any blank media that has these traits.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've seen blue bottoms, but they were little more than coaster media. No-name crap.

Nuffies? Is that an Aussie expression jimmalenko? Is a "nuffie" like a guy who is asked "you call that a knife" when he takes out a small knife, or is that just someone who can't shotgun one of those giant FOSTER'S cans?

Nuffie = Nuff-Nuff = intellectually challenged individual (not by disability I might add, just born stupid)
    If in doubt, Google it.

  10. Most of my good quality 4x discs are DARK BLUE in colour, e.g. TYG01, MCC wheras my good quality 2x discs are DARK PURPLE in colour.

I can definetly tell a 2x TY from a 4x TY if you gave me two side by side.

    Regards,

Colours are so subjective. While one may see blue, other may see maroon, or fuschia or purple or violet or indigo or a sanguine sunrise or a vermilion pink.

This thread is pointless. With CD-R's colours indicated dye, but I havent seen such a pattern with DVD recordables. For instance Ritek discs are much darker than others. However it does not mean that it is superior based on the colour of the dye.

If they work for you, then use em. Does colour really matter?

  12. I'd have to agree colour is subjective. I have a lot of fujifilm 4x Taiyo Yuden made discs and they are dark purple. Who makes the disc is more important than what dye colour it has.

  13. It's a combination of the color of the dye used and the color of the reflective layer used. Color is in no way a guaranteed sign of quality.
