I got a new plextor px708a dvd burner.
So I've just been figuring out how to backup dvds, but I'm having a problem. Whenever I'm decrpyting the dvd using decrypter.......it only reads at about 2x (sometimes 2.1, 1.9 etc)
I have the settings to max read rate, but for every dvd I've tried so far it reads at 2.0 speed.....
The drive can read dvds at 12x........ is ther any way to speed it up?

Check the above Plextor forum. Below is a quote from Plextor Forum:
My Plextor PX-708A drive only reads DVD-Video discs at 2x! Can't I make it go any faster than that?
A Yes, you can 'unlock' the drive by making sure the drive is empty and closed. Then press and hold the drive's eject button for about three second until the drive's LED flashes green three times. Release the eject button so that the drive's tray will open. Now insert a DVD-Video disc and voila the drive reads faster. When you eject the disc or when you cut the drive's power, the PX-708A will be reset to 2x reading again. -
WEll that manual fix works.....but I wish there was a hack that would make it automatic.......

Isn't it just the 2X ripping restriction on burners ? I'd look for a firmware mod to unlock it permanently
