Hi. I am having problems with converting 2 movie segments onto 1 DVD+RW. Since the movie has AC3 5.1 sound, I first used VDubMOD to append the two segments, and then demux the audio as AC3 file. Then, I tried using TMPGEnc's "Open sequence files as a movie" option but in the end after I burned the DVD, I think the audio and the video goes out of sync in the second half of the joined movie. I won't know for sure because in my DVD player, the DVD stops playing right in the area where the second segment comes on. In my Windows Media Player Classic, they both say the length is 1 hour, 46 minutes and 25 seconds. But something is really fishy. When I loaded the AC3 and the M2V files into DVD-lab, it says this:

    M2V --- 1 hour, 46 minutes, 18 seconds
    AC3 --- 1 hour, 46 minutes, 25 seconds

Why is this? I don't get it. Should I try converting the two segments separately in TMPGEnc and then joining them together using MPEG Tools?

See, this is why I don't recommend joining files with ac3 audio. If authored seperately there will be a slight pause but at least they'll be in sync. The only other option would be to convert the ac3 to pcm wav, but then you'll lose the 5.1 channel sound as wav can only have 2 channels.

So even if I join the M2V files after converting them separately, and I have ripped the AC3 by appending segments in VDubMOD, it would still be out of sync? How do I make it so that it jumps to the second segment? I use DVDAuthorGUI.

    Edit:
I have checked though. When I appended the AVI segments in Virtualdub, at the last frame, it said it was 1 hour, 46 minutes and 25 seconds. Same with the AC3 file. Maybe I can join the M2V files in Virtualdub?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with DVDAuthorGUI. I would think that there isn't anything special you need to do. As long as you have them on the same root menu they should play sequentialy regardless.

No dice. Virtualdub(and its derivatives) doesn't allow you to output as mpeg.

The thing I don't get is why the joined M2V file says it is 1:46:25 in WMP and yet it says it is 1:46:18 in an MPEG editing program. Since the end is just the ending credits, it's no big deal so maybe I can just clip the AC3 file to match the M2V?

It's up to you. I stand behind my original suggestion. Best of luck.

I just joined the 2 segments together in VDub and saved (Direct Stream Copy) as another AVI. In GSpot, it says it is 1:46:25. However when I converted it, in MPEG-VCR it said it was 1:46:18. What's wrong with joining AC3 files? When I play the AC3 file, the joined area sounds smooth. I still don't understand why it gets such problems.
