    Hello everyone.
for my first post I want to state that this is a great site with so much info, my heads been spinning for weeks now. My PC is too slow for video capture/encoding plus I don't have the HD space.
I'd like to get into archiving VHS and my editing needs are pretty staightforward so I'm thinking of getting a DVD recorder W/ firewire input.
My question is, can I use the input to import from my PC (firewire out) text and icons/images or is the input strictly for DV?
Reason being I'd like to add captions and images while recording to a DVD.
If it's possible, any brand/model recommendations under $450 would be appreciated.
    Thank you for your help.

Sorry, but they are all strictly DV input - no data input. Pioneer and Sharp models also have DV output as well as input.

Oh well, guess I'll have to upgrade the ol' PC.

    Thanks for the reply.

You might as well. Converting all that DV to MPEG would really be slow on a slow PC.
