I just encoded a .avi file to mpeg1 and it works perfect on my comp. But my only problem is that when I burn it with Nero 5.5 and try to play it on my dvd player the a/v is out of synch. I played the .dat file off of the vcd and it is in synch so why is it out of synch when I try to play? Should I just try to re-encode the movie? Thx, for the help.

Details. We need more details before we can help.
How did you encode the MPEG? What settings are you using?

I used Panasonic Mpeg Encoder with the default vcd settings. It's worked fine for every other files I've had. I don't know whats wrong with this one.

Is the MPEG file in sync on your PC?
Panasonic MPEG Encoder actually doesn't mux the video and audio properly (at least, that's what I think). In some players, it leads to an A/V sync problem. I know this first hand because I got stung by it when I first started making VCDs.
It is, however, easy to fix. All you have to do is to remultiplex your Panasonic encoder stream with TMPGEnc or bbMPEG.
With TMPGEnc, go to the MPEG Tools and choose Simple Multiplex. Then, just load up your Panasonic MPEG, set a save file name and click okay.
Make sure you have the setting on MPEG-1 Video-CD as the setting rather than "Auto".
