    Hey everyone,

I have little experience with video capture and methods of compression, so I am looking for a little input. Here is what I am going to set up to capture medical studies from a fluroscopy procedure, store them on the computer, and burn thm to dvdr.

I will be using a scan converter to downscan the 1049 line rate video feed coming off the fluoro unit. The aspect ratio is 1:1. A clinical person will be speaking into a mic. to add narration to the video. That audio will be fed into the scan converter as well to keep sync. as much as possible.

Once downscanned into NTSC, I plan on feeding the video into the Plextor PX-402 converter. The Plextor will convert the video into MPEG2 at it's highest quality.

(2 minutes is the longest a procedure will be)

I don't have to do any editing of the video whatsoever....Once the video is complete and saved onto the computer, the clinical staff will use the WinDVD5 player to review the procedure. Later this will be burned to a DVDr using the Plextor PX-708UF dvd burner.

Can anyone forsee any issues I may have with this system? I'm thinking it should work. The PC that will be used will exceed the minimum requirements for all the hardware, and it will run Win XP or 2000.

I appreciate any inout you can offer

We're moving to DVD recorders at VGH. Simple to use - like a VCR, and you can take the footage and edit it later if you like. Too much hassle trying to get a good capture in the middle of a case.

  3. Why not get a pro package like the tut and keep the high resolution high
    - downscanner not required.

wow...that Tut System is very impressive. That would save me a heck of a lot of work.

Do you have experience with one of these systems??
