  1. I have tried different CD-RW media (Verbatin, TDK, Samsung), but it won't erase any CD-RW. If I put in a blank CD-RW, it writes fine, but when i try to erase it says its a 'Read-Only' disk. Happens on Nero, Roxio and other cd writing softwares.

I have tried with different firmwares(OEM, oficial and hacked) and its still the same problem.

Can some one please tell me why it reads a CD-RW disk as read-only ?

I have tried removing direct cd writing and disabling ASPI drivers also.

    Thanks in Advance.

I have tested differents think, like of you, and it's didn't work too.
So we have test on CD-RW Verbatim UltraSpeed, and now it's OK.

  4. there are 3 count em, 3 different slightly incompatible cd-rw media.. theres normal, hi-speed and ultra-speed.. the diff is in burn speeds
    normal is 1x to 10x
    hi-speed 8x to 24x
    ultra-speed 16x to 60x
these speeds may be wrong but your drive has to be compatible with you media eg hi-speed drive can use normal & hi-speed media but NOT ultra-speed... This is a complete minefield. Also I think data integrity is best when the drive and media type match. Others feel free to fill in the facts
