Hello everyone,
I just got my hands on a WinFast TV2000 XP "Expert" capture card,
but I'm having trouble w/ installing it under Windows 98.
I went to their website and D/L'ed their lates drivers, which included drivers
for all OS's, including Window 98.
However, it's still not working. I realize that the driver is WDM, but I was hoping that I could install a VFW if I could not get the WDM working, but so far,
I'm not able to get either VFW or WDM drivers workign. My vdub window
shows a black screen, for instance. Even using the VFWWDM wrapper driver
does not work.
has anybody ben able to get this card to work under Windows 98, and if so,
How ??
Thanks in advance to you all,

Hi guys,
Well, after hours of messing around, I finally got it to work under Win98.
In short, I had to switch the line-in on the card's sofware (using iuVCR) but
it took a lot of messing around with before I could realize I was being pretty
darn stupid.
My thoughts on this card..
Hmm... I'm still gathering data on this.
As to line-noise.. there are none. When I view the blue-screen, (the same way
I do w/ my previous analog capture cards) I there are no line-noise in this
card. Which is great, BUT, there are noise in my .AVI file
Also, there are tons of "hatches". So now, I'm researching what's causing
this to happen on my new WinFast card

Morning all.
Here is my 2nd UPDATE..
..with great results so far
I did away w/ iuVCR because it seems to be (in a way) crippled, w/ the way
it handles video quality. I found that it adds "noise" to the sourcewhen
you have the Trial version.
.
.
I'm basing that on my findings, when I used VirtualVCR. No Noise
Clean video, as far as I can tell so far.. but only one limitation w/ VirtualVCR.
It does not segment (for us W98 users) and crashes out when it hits the FAT32's
4gig limit. But, that's ok, I'll figure something out, if I can. Also, in the
tests that I performed so far, I did not drop any frames, however. Audio
sync seems to be an issue.
Another great thing I like abuot v.VCR is that it's freeand not
crippled or hampered in any way (that I can tell)
PROS:
* Audio is out of sync (needs to be worked on)
* Lots of "hatches" everywhere's. (I believe that this is due to the S-Video
...wire that I'm using. I'm using a regular one, because of the placement of
...my LD player.
CONS:
* This card has great quality video.
* Color is rich and image is sharp.
* Sound is good, even at 48k (and no dropped frames - prob due to the WDM
...driver format vs. VFW 's)
I have not tried my pro wires just yet on this cap card. But, thats my next
move. It is my beliefe that this should eliminate the "hatching". Stay tuned
for my results
This card claims to have a Comb Filter, but I suspect that it's only applicable
to the TV Tuner part of the card, and when you watch TV through the card,
the Comb Filter kicks in. I don't know if it kicks in during capturing
Right now, I'm operating under the assumption the the Comb Filter is in its
off state, even during capturing. But it would be nice to know if it IS on, or
better yet, if there were a switch (via software setting) to turn on/off. Then
at least I'd know that it was "off" and I could turn it on to really see the
results of the Comb Filter ( for testing purposes :P )
FWIW.. my test LD disk is "show girls", because this is the movie that game
me the most issues w/ "hatching" or "checkers".
