I bought a NEC ND-2500A OEM burner from newegg but have not received it yet. I thought WinXP Pro would install the proper driver automatically on boot up. Then I thought I could burn using Record Now Max which I already have. But I read a post (can't remember where) that only Nero 6 can burn +R and -R DVDs on the ND-2500A. Can you straighten me out on what driver and burner software I need?

I see on ebay there are Nero 6 Suite-1 for about $7 that says it is for CD and DVD but one listing says that Suite-1 does not burn DVDs and Nero 6 Suite-3 at $20 is necessary. As you can see I am totally confused right now.

    Thanks for any help,
    Mike

I too got the Newegg NEC.....with the freebie -R 5 pak of discs. I had picked up the OEM Nero 6 Suite a few weeks previously from Livewarehouse.com for around $6. Couple days ago I burnt my first DVD...a data disc (13 cds' worth of Zep boots! ) Used one of the Newegg discs, 4x,... no problem. Nero was a cinch. Just like all the CDR's I did with Nero 5 over the years....

  4. I also got the ND2500A from Newegg. I burn using Nero 6 Suite 3. My understanding is that only Suite 3 has the DVD plugin for DVD encoding with Nerovision. Suite 1 does not have the DVD plugin so you can only encode VCD with Nerovision (Nero's encoding and authoring application). So, if you don't plan to use Nerovision then Suite 1 has everything you need.

Great burner by the way. You'll love it.

  6. Nero 6 Suite-1: needs lots of patches.

Btw, why don't you just run the software compatiblity checker, should be on your OS disk. ms dot com has afull list of what runs on what OS too.

Not so much concerned with compatibility with the OS (running winXP Pro) but compatibility with the NEC ND-2500A. I think only Nero can burn DVDs on it until other vendors add the 2500A to their software.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    thats where to get it.
best copying software out there, compared to it,nero6 is shite.

    Meta and Sound,
Thanks for your input. I have Record Now Max so I'll try it when I install my 2500A this week.
    Thanks,
    Mike
