I try to watch all my backups to make sure they play fine....lately a few of my backups play fine until about the end...maybe about 10 mins before the end of the movies, they start to glitch...get those blocks that run across until it gets so bad, the dvd finally stops playing.

What can be the cause of this?

I'm using an unlocked LIteOn DVDROM to rip using dvd decrypter, dvd2on and record now max. I've never really had this problem before. I"m using Memorex 4x media.

    Any ideas?

I'm sure everyone that reads this thread will tell you the same. It's the media. Almost always when a movie goes bad towards the end. It's the disks that are bad. Try using a different brand. Or try shrinking the movie a little more so it does'nt have to write all the way to the outside of the disk.

A whole 25? Wow, lucky you.

Give a little more compression, and burn a little less, and count you lucky.

Running thriugh my second 25 spindle, and just getting bad ones, might just be since I installed Autoshrink 3.3.0. or whatever it is. Never had the prob before.

    Cheers,

POssibly due to it burning right to the edge of the media, where all the problems seem to be with certain types of media

Like mentioned, just try to squeeze it more and hopefully it won't burn to the limit

  7. Before you reshrink try burning it at 2x instead of 4x.

  8. Depending on how far into the movie it begins to glitch would determine how much more to shrink.. This, again, assuming that it is the media which is the problem (sure it is)... On average, Ive only had to shrink to about 4.1gig when dealing with a similar issue...

  9. I had some problems recently at the edge of some beall's, so I used a different blank & everything was ok...the wierd thing was that I tested the beall on dvdinfo pro and it didn't have any read errors, then when I played it on the standalone, it wouldn't play at the end...not sure why other than the dvdrom is less sensitive to deviations in the media?

Yes, try burning at a slower speed, like 1x-2x. I had a similar problem with Ritek G03 disks - I was burning at MAX settings (2.4x) and they were all playing with stops and stutters. When I took the same files and reburned at 1x, they all played just fine. That was it, just slowing the burning speed made all the difference...
