First of all, I want to thank those who responded to my initial enquiry with their helpful information. I've made about ten DVD-Rs that all play fine on both the SD-1250 and SD-1300. I haven't bothered trying them on the SD-2109, mainly because I don't want to sit downstairs for that long. I will get around to it one day, I suppose.
Anyway, using DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink, it has mostly been smooth sailing except for one thing. With two titles that are approximately two hours in length, I am having trouble with time codes.
The first disc I noticed this problem on was the PAL version of The Man Who Fell To Earth. My backup plays just fine, but the standalone players report the title as being 126:03 in length, when it is really 133:03. A similar event happened with XXX, with the players reporting it as approximately 115 minutes when it is really 119.
The only common factor I can think of with these titles is that they are both over 100 minutes in length. This hasn't happened with the only other DVD over the 100 minute mark that I backed up (RoboCop), but the copying method was the same. I used to extract material in DVDShrink, then decrypt it using DVDDecryptor. Then I would burn it using Intervideo's DVDCopy software or Ahead Nero. But I have shortened the process down to just using DVDShrink followed by DVDDecryptor.
Am I missing something, or are these quirky time codes a sign of something more sinister? Am I doing something wrong?
