lollll....certainly I cannot pay that much, but I can propose something better, maybe taking you to Ubatuba, seeing the islands, dolphins, etc...
Well, sorry for that, it's not this avi I was talking about. It's about huffyuv. As soon as you click on the link there are 2 files (codec and source code). I downloaded both, unzipped both in respective unzipped folders and installed the codec. When rendering with Vegas I cannot find the huffyuv option, neither its configuring options. Can you help me with that too?![]()

One more thing - as always -
In photoshop 8.0, openning a new file NTSC compliant as you told me to do so (with those resolutions), does not let me open the Genesis and Nebula plug-ins for photoshop.
Thanks again -
render as "video for windows *avi" -> template "uncompressed" (top one) -> hit the custom button -> video tab -> video format -> huffyuv -
if you switch on or off the openDML avi option - this will control type 1 or 2 avi files -- but i would leave it on and if you need less than 2gig files, either format a partition as NTFS or render in sections"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

Well, thanks again, "mon ami du Canada" (my Canadian friend) - il fait beau à Toronto?.
I don't know if you've already noticed, but I am a newbie and, without your help I would never find (that would take weeks) those configuring options. Just because, being a newbie, that's hard to follow some instructions as the following ones:
- switch on or off the openDML avi option - this will control type 1 or 2 avi files -- but i would leave it on and if you need less than 2gig files, either format a partition as NTFS or render in sections.
please, where can I config the following instructions?
Is that option on the same guide (at the bottom) you select Huffyuv?
Which is the best format, avi1 or avi2 and what's the basic difference between them? And finally: why selecting Huffyuv if u can encode as uncompressed (size reasons?)
About NTFS:
I'd rather stay with the old FAT32, because I know it MAY work better and faster than ntfs (ntfs, as ar as I know, works much better for servers, pcs linked on a network, ... - despite the fact some people say that after SP1, it's mandatory to format as NTFS) Do you recommend me format to ntfs?
Soundtrack "kicks":
By the way, I've noticed some "kicks with soundtrack" while watching some dvds on my system.
Are those the effect of going to the end and the beginning of dvd chapters while dvd is playing? Is that normal? Does that happen with ntfs systems or this remark "has nothing to do with the ntfs/fat32 thing?
Thanks again (merci beaucoup, une fois de plus). -
Eu NÃO DEVO TENTAR USAR O PORTUGUÊS.
but yes -- the weather is great here, the snow has ended and spring is almost here (i live 130km north of toronto but work in toronto).
1. yes bottom of video tab for opendml .. one is not "better" than another , just different - it's explained in the manual and if you use the ? tool tip (click question mark in any window and click item and a big window will pop up explaining that item) ..
2. "About NTFS" -- NTFS is a better file system than fat32 , it is not only for servers but now for just about anything .. if you are going to to continue in video work , i strongly urge you to switch to NTFS ..
3. "Soundtrack "kicks" -- not sure what you mean ? pops? clicks ? kick as in a drum kick ?
there can be a click if audio is rendered diiferent per title - but audio should be rendered the same per chapter for whole title set .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
"Eu não devo tentar usar o português....I must not try to use portuguese...How do u know that?
lollllllll
Well, for the number 1.click question mark in any window and click item and a big window will pop up explaining that item) .. , yes, I know that; thanks for this advice.
For number2. I'll make an upgrade around here...still thinking about Atlhon 3.2 or PIV 3.0.....let's see....
For number 3. This sound kicks...how can I explain them? Imagine an old vinyl player, 33 and 1/2 rpm. You suddenly try to stop the turntable touching it with your hand.....now understand what I mean? It's as though as the rhythm slowed down for just a little while and all of a sudden started playing correctly again...........it happens with some dvds when I play them on my platform.
About Genesis and Nebula: those are photoshop plug-ins. You can create a series of effects such as noise to mock a starfield, nebulae, galaxies, distant suns and explosions. It's impossible to keep these plug-ins working under those configure options. Don't know if I'm doing the right stuff but I usually open new files in photoshop with the following config.:
1024 x 768 or 1600 x 1200;
resolution 72; RGB color;
Save as JPEG;
Image Options 12 - Maximum;
Format Options - Progressive - Scans 5;
Size 2 MBps
Thank you very much once again, for your kindness and valuable help
I live in city of Saint Paul (São Paulo), located in the State of São Paulo (that has the same name), in Brazil. São Paulo is about 500 kilometers south of Rio de Janeiro. We had a sunny sunday today, about 28ºC -
ive been in Brazil a couple of time - as well as most other countries on the planet .. Ubatuba clued me in to your location (never was there though) ..
your number 3 issue sounds as if either a fragmentation issue on your hard drive, a virus checker or could be a number of other thing (some sound drivers even cause this) ..
as for those plug-ins (or photoshop in general) , sorry , can not help you - i use graphics artists to do all the photoshop stuff and i stay away for the most part.
BUT for what you are doing -- you may want to check out Axogon Composer , which is free .. It's the precursor to main concept 'main actor' ..
and can make/create some great effects .. in fact its used by a lot of people .. tutorial here (basic) http://users.rcn.com/rofrano/Video/Axogon_Loops/axogon_loops.html
or check out ParticleIllusion 2.0 .. which also is great (ParticleIllusion 2.0 SE is free in the back issue of August 2003 Digit Magazine #64).
in fact -- vegas itself an create some really great stuff like this -- people forget its got a very powerfull generator built in ..
get some project file templates (.veg files) at the sundance media site. OceanWavesNClouds is a good one to start with ..
iv'e been following that you have been posting over at the vegas sony forum the same questions -- but ive just been posting answers here
as no point to duplicate .. bigger forum here .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Thanks again for taking time to respond. Don't know yet how the name Ubatuba clued you in to my location. Nice to know you've been here before. If you wanna check this site out, give it a try www.litoralvirtual.com.br (nice Ubatuba pics - site's in English and Brazilian Portuguese)
About the Photoshop issue: I still don't know how to copy and paste the original jpeg file to the newly ntsc compatible generated file. The usual way just pastes a small portion of the screen. I'll check it out what's going on.
By the way, I guess I've found out how to render with TMPGENC/Vegas as MPEG2 for those Photoshop files in such an easier way. Maybe it's not the correct way, but it works, I guess. Let's see:
I rendered 2 files as AVI with no compression at all(one for the virtual galaxy, the other one showing a spaceship flying into another galaxy) in Boris RED 3.0 with all the effects .
Then, I opened those in TMPGENC and rendered them as MPEG2 with no audio, selecting Clip Frame>Arrange Setting>No Margin (keep aspect ratio) - that seems to have the same effect as though I followed your instructions on how to create a new ntsc compatible file in Photoshop. Finally, still with TMPGENC I selected: >Multiplex>final result MPGEG2.
Back in Vegas, I set these files in the timeline (the mpeg2 files!) and rendered again the whole thing with MC as MPEG2 DVDA video stream. Of course there may be a loss of quality, but those files rendered previously with TMPGENC looks much better if they were originally rendered from avi to MPEG2 within Vegas tru the built in MC. (Anyway, I think the best way would be rendering tru debugmode with TMPGENC (or with MC in Vegas) as AVI first and then later render again with TMPGECN as MPEG2.
About the virus or something with my system: I guess there's such no possibility. There must be somethign else.
About Vegas Forum: yes, you're right. I was posting "almost" at the same time there, in order to get all help I could, even though I agree with you on your remark about this forum being bigger.
Don't know how to thank you for everything you've done. I've learned a lot this weekend. Thanks! -
Hi there! In one of the replys, Mr. BJ_M wrote that I could render the timeline in Vegas as avi with any codec includding the one he suggested (huffyuv) so that later, the whole thing could be rendered as MPEG2 with TMPGENC.
Question:
Why choosing huffyuv over "uncompressed"- bercause of the size or the quality?
Why not rendereing just as with no compression at all (uncompressed) - because of the size (again)?
What's the main difference between huffyuv and the option uncompressed?
Thanks in advance! Thanks for the productive last weekend! -
Huffyuv versus uncompressed... the difference is mainly the file sizes. For example, a Huffyuv-encoded 120 minute AVI takes about 50-60GB. An uncompressed AVI of the same length could easily be twice that size (or larger). Huffyuv files are lossless (i.e. the output is the same as the input), so you really aren't losing any information. Your system just needs to be able to keep up with the encoding, if you use the codec for capturing. For example, my 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 system with 512MB of RAM and a dedicated 7200RPM 120GB ATA/133 IDE drive can easily capture 720x480 (NTSC) video with no dropped frames, depending on the quality of the source. (Laserdisc capturing vields no dropped frames, while VHS capturing tends to drop a frame or two, but a handful of frames out of a 30 minute capture isn't noticable and won't throw off the audio/video sync, depending on the capture software you use.)
Don't sweat the petty things, just pet the sweaty things. -
Thanks for the explanation, MJPollard. In fact, this video thing is worse than I expected: ntsc, pal, dropping frames........wow....but I'm trying to cope with that (guess I'm going pretty well).
Now, let me post another topic on this forum on DVD2AVI. I've got a dvd (ntsc recorded video), and I'd like to use DVD2AVI to rip the whole thing as AVI for editing purposes. Later, I plan to render this edited file as MPEG2 so as to include it in my new dvd project. But there's "something": I'm getting crazy since the file generated by DVD2AVI doesn't match the original (it has some kicks going on - lack of smoothness). Do't know what to do....
Thanks for everything.
