I have some mp3s with a bitrate of 128, and a program that I can change the bitrates to what ever i want. My question is, if I change the bitrates on them to 192, will the sound quality actually increase? I also have a few that are a 96 bitrate.....and sound eh......if i do the same for them will they become cd quality?

Wouldn't you need to expand them into .wav files, then recompress them. I think you might lose some quality in the translation.

If you take a rotting piece of fruit and pop it into the microwave, will you end up with a delicious rump roast?

  4. the short answer is no..

as long as the mp3 was made from the original source (cd/dvd), then it should sound fine.

its when you start dealing with generations that you start having problems with quality (cd/mp3/cd-r/mp3)

Nope. Compressing a compressed file is noever a way to increase quality. You'd have to re-rip the CD for better quality than you have now.

  7. Exact Audio Copy coupled with Lame is the best way if you're going MP3.
