I am in need of a programme that will batch-extract the audio from VCD and CVD files, normalise them, and then re-mux the audio tracks with the video tracks. I'm having to extract the audio tracks from the VCD files one by one and normalising them in Adobe Audition, and it's a real pain, especially since I must then re-mux them in TMPGEnc. (Adobe Audition evidently does not batch-extract audio from VCD files, as I had checked.) Goldwave could batch-extract the audio tracks, but it cuts off the tail-end of the tracks, so it was not desirable. I've done an extensive search of this forum and of the Internet in general, and have come up with nothing. It seems to me that this would be a great programme to have. Are there any VCD enthusiasts out there who are programmers, who'd be willing to work on such a project? It would be so appreciated!!

  2. So you need something like MP3Gain for MP2 files?

Yes, but preferably a programme that can eliminate as many steps as possible. It would be really great if I could find a programme that would normalise the mp2 files WITHOUT ripping to .wav and re-encoding....

  4. I noticed this earlier today:
    http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/show.php/showtopic/20477

There is an application, i don't now if your aware, called MP3Gain, that will let you adjust the volume of your MP3 collection without having to re-encode. It's supposedly lossless.

I've never used foobar, but the post is what i'de expect to see for normalizing the audio on MP2 files.

Do a search for keywords; ReplayGain, and MP2. You may come across an application that your already familiar with that has the capability.

(or you could just try foobar like it says in the above post)

I've done a search on such programmes for mp2 quite awhile ago, and could not find any. There were several programmes that I had downloaded that were reported to batch normalise mp2 files, but actually did not. I have not been able to find ANY programmes that claimed to do everything that I'd like them to do, including demuxing the VCD files and remuxing them with the normalised audio track....

  6. You can convert the MP2 to WAV and normalize then convert to MP2 but the audio might be out of synch, the best way is to reencode the mpeg's with TMPGEnc ,etc.

You can extract the mp2's as wav with virtualdubmod and then batch encode them to mp2 normalized in batch mode with besweet gui.

Thanks for the posts, but none of your suggestions are any better than what I'm doing right now, with Adobe Audition and dBPowerAMP. I wish someone with programming skills would come up with a better solution.

Nobody is going to make a program to batch rip mp2 audio and batch normalize it,just do it one by one the way everybody else does it.

Well, that's what I'm doing. It just would have been nice if there were such a programme, hence my thread....

Thanks, but I had already downloaded and tried that programme. I couldn't figure out how to specify the percentage of normalisation, so it was useless for me....

  14. Looks like you gotta re-encode then.
