  1. I'm inthe UK and wish to archive an NTSC VHS tape to DVD-R. After trying both PAL and NTSC input settings for my Panasonic E55, it appears that I have two choices of resultant format. A B&W picture which fills the whole frame in NTSC mode, or a colour picture which only fills 90% of the frame in PAL mode Any way I can get a colour picture to fill the whole frame please?

I'm guessing that the E55 is expecting a true NTSC signal and my UK VCR is popping out a PAL60 signal. Though the VCR manaual reveals nothing to confirm or deny this.

    best, TT

Try on Phillips DVDR 70, 72, 75, 80….they convert 100% NTSC to PAL on the video input yet.
Or first try with different VCR – could be your VCR…

  3. It is as you say, your vcr is outputting pal60 and the Panasonic requires a true ntsc 3.58 signal. I found this out to my cost after buying mine. But this is one of the few minuses I have found with the machine.
