  1. Would a dual Xeon system with 10,000RPM or 15,000 RPM drives encode video any faster and not tie up the system as much then a single processor system with one CPU without the really fast drives? Also when using DVD2AVI, is that more processor depended or memory depended?

    As I understand it, for encoding, CPU is the most important, followed by System Bus, followed by RAM, followed by HD Speed. I think it would be money better spent on a CPU and RAM and 10,000RPM drives.

  3. So I should probably go with a P4 3.4 with in 800Mhz fsb over dual 2.4 xeons with a smaller fsb?

    I would agree with that. Might be an idea to see what other more experienced people think. PM people like Baldrick, Lordsmurf and ZippyP (apologies to anyone I left out) - They are very very knowledgeable people and are worth listening to.
