  1. Hi!

Since everyone is saying that tmpgenc's audio conversion is crap, i thought i'd try toolame.. it works and plays fine on computer, but when i burn it, the video plays fine on the standalone, but the sound just screeches and cuts in and out.. i noticed that toolame does audio at x/48hz (or whatever that is) instead of the normal 44.. is this supposed to happen and how do I fix this?

    thanx!

You missed to downsample to 44,1kHz. You could use TMPG to downsample just by setting 44100Hz at the audio tab. But I do not recommend it. Actually the TMPG audio encoder isn't that crap, the downsampling routine is it. Use ssrc as external sampling frequency converter. DVD2AVI comes also with a sampling frequency converter, I suggest to use the "ultrahigh" option. It takes long but is worth the extra time.

I'm having similar troubles, only I've figured out all the details long ago (basics I mean).

What I'm looking for is the FASTEST re-sampling program (48k to 44k) in existance. Which one is it? ssrc?

I'm using Sound Forge for now, and it is SUPER SLOW. I could probably be on my Dual-P4 1.7Ghz server at work, and it would still be slow with SoundForge.

Is ssrc fast? I typically use TMPGEnc to encode my audio by itself (I have the problem where TooLAME likes to work on some files, bomb out on others, so I just use TMPGEnc which works OK)...

Is there some "Holy Grail" that does all audio, and does it fast? Including resampling?

  4. Re-sampling audio is not a trivial task and there are many ways of doing it. Generally though, the better algorithms naturally take LONGER. Quality and speed tend to be inversely related.

From all accounts though, ssrc seems to have a very good quality output.

  5. homerpez SSRC is fast. Compared to a good converter like wavesf44 it is about 6x faster on normal settings.

Get the program at this link:
