i want to do a backup of pirates movie keeping the dts sound
ive done it in dvd2dvd but didnt deinterlace with 7 passes

there dosent look to be anything wrong viewing in on the comp
looks preyty much like the original

my question is ,is deinterlacing neccessary for pal dvd movies
if i do a telecine deinterlace will it increase the quality of the movie
in that ill have a higher bitrate to play with

ive read the tutorials on on looking for lines throiug a movie to see if it is interlaces but frankly the only place ive ever seen them is on my dv footage

well ive answered my second ? i can use the dts straight

but the audio is out of sync
going by DVD Decrypter and dvd2dvd there should be no offset for the audio
as shown by the logs from both below

    DVD Decrypter
    VTS_01 - Stream Information.txt

    0x20 - Subtitle - English / Normal Captions - [SubPicture 01: Wide/Letterbox] / LBA: 9070 / PTS: 00:00:29.647 / Delay: 29360ms
    0x21 - Subtitle - English / Normal Closed Captions - [SubPicture 02: Wide/Letterbox] / LBA: 8239 / PTS: 00:00:26.607 / Delay: 26320ms
    0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 6ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 2336 / PTS: 00:00:00.287 / Delay: 0ms
    0x82 - Audio - AC3 / 1ch / 48kHz / DRC / English - Director's Comments / LBA: 2338 / PTS: 00:00:00.287 / Delay: 0ms
    0x83 - Audio - AC3 / 1ch / 48kHz / DRC / English - Alternate Director's Comments / LBA: 2339 / PTS: 00:00:00.287 / Delay: 0ms
    0x89 - Audio - DTS / 6ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 2337 / PTS: 00:00:00.287 / Delay: 0ms
    0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x576 (PAL) / 16:9 / Letterboxed / LBA: 2328 / PTS: 00:00:00.287 / Delay: 0ms

    dvd2svcd_log.txt

    Found DTS stream id: 0x89
    Filename: D:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.dts
    Audio1 delay: 0 ms
    Framerate: 25000
    Audio extraction finished.

but i had to offset the audio by over 6 secs to get it in the right position

DVD Decrypter(log from my compiled movie)

    0x88 - Audio - DTS / 5ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 110 / PTS: 00:00:06.526 / Delay: 6246ms
    0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x576 (PAL) / 4:3 / LBA: 1 / PTS: 00:00:00.280 / Delay: 0ms

anyone had this prob or any ideas on it
luckily i tested the vobs with power dvd before i burnt
also the audio offset matchs perfectly the first chapter
or as close as damm it - i should have prob tried to get it closer but it looks perfectly synced as i did it
