i'm using two kinds of mouseover popups...one is a javascript(tool version history) that never disappears and one is a so called tooltip that disappears after a while(it depends on your os and browser). I will probably change to the javascript but I must first fix some problems with it(like the position and I would like a delay also).

I'm now testing a new onmouserover javascript, i can specify the delay and for how long it can stay up. But I'm not sure how good it will work on all browsers, i have tested opera, ie6 and firefox and it works pretty good with them.

I use IE6.0 newest version, and I can't get the damned thing to go away now. The screen pops up too fast, and then it won't go away. I have ghosts all over now.

Increased the delay a bit. Remember that this is just a test...if I can't get it to work perfect I will remove it.

I like this popup style better than the last. It's much easier to read. I'm using Opera 7, by the way.

WIN-ME 99% of the time. This is my primary computer.

I hold SHIFT then click (or right-click) topics off the front page.

I then look at those loaded pages when I'm done picking the ones from the front. I'm not a BACK-FORWARD kind of person. I have 5-10 windows open at all times.

When I do this, the mouseover stays until I go back over it again 2-3 times. I feel like WAX-ON, WAX-OFF with this thing on.

The very first one you had seemed to work the best. It gets worse with every new tweak.

The COMPUTER DETAILS works great, however. Like that.

jakol: DOM Tooltip, http://www.mojavelinux.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127 ....with some minor tweaks.

lordsmurf: try now, whenever you press down the mousebutton on a tooltiplink the tooltip should disappear immediatly.

But it is still kinda buggy...tooltips can randomly popup now and then.... ..and my old opera version crashes...

That's awesome. Works perfectly. I wish I knew how to code PHP as well as you do. I can't get past just ASP and CFM.

Looks good on several PCs here. No bugs seen yet.

On a related note, it appears the Latest Tools section on the home page is now only updated by new versions, not by new comments too, as before. I kinda liked it when it was both.

I didn't think that anyone read the comments...:P...but I think I can reduce my latest site news a bit to make room for the tool comments also.

have you disabled javascript/scripting? if you set the security levels too high it will be disabled(under tools->internet options->security).

hmm...but the tool history works?? it popups when you move the mouse over the H-icons on the first page???

The mouseover is too cool. I hope you don't mind,Baldrick, but I did a screen cap of it and sent it to the admin of another site I belong to. I basically said "you should do this too" and suggested that you probably wouldn't mind sharing the mod with him. He thinks it's an alt mod since it has a yellow background. I don't know what that means, but it sounded like he at least has a clue. He's a code wrangler by profession. If you don't want to share it, just tell him to buzz off

It was an alt/title mod but now it is a javascript tooltip(dom tooltip and it is free). Easiest is to just make an alt/title, just add title="Text that should popup" to your <a href or <img and the text will popup(depending on your os and browser). But you can't change any setting with an alt/title, like the delay, for how long it should stay up, and so on so I changed to the javascript and I can change everything...but it is a bit buggy though.

  26. Looks good.

Is it possible to make a popup for when the thread spills over to multiple pages so that if you hover over the little numbers it pops up what's on this page.

I've included this picture so you'll have a clue about what I'm rambling on about.

Don't worry too much about it, it's not worth sacrificing load times for.
