Hi all,
I've just downloaded an XviD with AC3 audio. However, after I encoded the file using TMPGEnc Plus into an MPEG-2, I was left with absolutely no sound at all. Are there maybe any extra files I need for TMGPEnc to recognise the AC3 audio and to allow it to convert it properly? Before I started the encoding, TMPGEnc did recognise that there was audio with the XviD and I also used AVICodec to check this. Having already watched the films using WMP and PowerDVD, I know for sure that there is audio with the movie.
Can anyone help? It would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone :>

What's the file that's left, m2v? That's normal (video only). Strip out the AC3 with virtualdub and use that when you author it as the audio source.

Ok so I downloaded Virtual Dub and tried opening my video. I got this error message:
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XviD' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
Is there other files I need for Virtual Dub for it to recognise the XviD format?
Thanks for all your help btw -
You need an older version of xvid codec for virtual dub to open the file.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Hiya everyone,
After having problems with AC3 audio conversion using TMPGEnc, I downloaded 'BeSliced', which allowed me to correct the AC3 file I had stripped from my XviD using VirtualDub.
CD1 of my film worked perfectly, apart from the fact that the audio was slightly in front of the picture, although this is not the main problem. When I stripped my AC3 audio from disk 2 and opened up BeSliced to correct it, the program returned this error: 'Stream error : Sync found after 840 bytes'. Using my initiative, I downloaded AC3fix, but I could not get the program to work!
Does anyone know how I could either fix the problem with BeSliced, or get AC3fix to actually do something? When I open my AC3 source using the program and select the output folder, the 'processing' button says: 'In ok, out ok', but does nothing.
Please help! Thanks very much
