As suggested my Michael (Vitualis) in other forums I am trying other burners to do Bin/Cue images ex VCDImager (dvd2svcd). Just did a burn via the Demo Vers (1x burn only)of CDRwin and made a really nice coffee coaster. Hmmm same bin/cue via NERO yep NERO and it plays fine in my OMNI standalone. Very simple lead in Pic and disc change pic along with markers for fast cue points are the only mods to the standard mpeg2 in the cue/bin. CDRwin turns it into the two still images ie start pic and change disc pic? NO movie. No combo of playback options would make it work. Has anyone else reported problems with simple cue options via CDRwin? attached text is the cue i'm talking of. FILE "D:\Ripped_DVD_VCD\Shrek\VCDImager_Image_file_CD0. bin" BINARY

Firstly, VCDImager is not DVD2SVCD... What version VCDImager are you using?

What do you mean exactly by this??

You can't just go adding things to the CUE file and expect it to work... Nero can probably handle it because it IGNORES the additional index points.

Furthermore, there have been some reported problems with CDRWin 4.0... you should probably try 3.8e or f.

Remember, Goldenhawk created CUE/BIN and thus theirs is the only program that can be guaranteed to burn a CUE/BIN image 100% correctly. There is probably something funny with your image...

What exactly did you do to create it? You mentioned stills. Are they REAL stills? Are you creating your VCD with PBC on or off?

    Regards.

    Michael,
I didn't say VCDImager was dvd2svcd, it is part of the package within dvd2svcd. The executable VCDXbuild is part of that area and can be used to add splash screen on insert of svcd into player along with markers which act like chapter sections at regular intervals (you can nominate the time ie 180 seconds)in the SVCD. It also will apply a Change disk screen at the end of the first SVCD to indicate next disk required. Look that's all secondary to the problem. I read and appreciated your advice to change from NERO to burn bin/cue but trying CDRwin 4.0a didn't work. I don't think i've done anything wrong by CDRwin, it's very simple to use. Funny thing is the NERO burnt bin/cue works fine in my OMNI 3002 and allows for the quick time skips (like chapters also).
PBC is not a settable item I could find within dvd2svcd. PBC is initiated by the OMNI 3002 on disk insert.

  4. Look, I know what VCDXBUILD is... It sounded like in your previous post that you were doing manual edits of the cuesheet.

What I don't know is how DVD2SVCD is creating these discs.

Do you have the XML of the VCD anywhere? DVD2SVCD wouldn't happen to create a build log of VCDXBUILD?

I suspect that the problem lies with how DVD2SVCD is authoring the actual discs...

Michael, Yes I have xml build files. Would you like me to mail one to you? Around 14k?

  6. Yeah, that'll be great...

I'm kind of curious to see how DVD2AVI authors the XML. I take it that it doesn't record a log file of VCDXBUILD when it works on the XML? Any errors that popup show up there and would be very useful to have.

Also, have you had any luck with CDRWin 3.8? Or, have you tried any CDRDAO?

I wrote an article here on burning CUE/BIN images: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd/burning_cuebin_images.html

I recommend the CDRDAO + XDuplicator method. It's free and it works well. BTW, you'll need a working ASPI layer for it so you should download ForceASPI from doom9's site (http://www.doom9.net ) if you're not sure.

    Regards.
