If you are recording from a DV camera via a firewire there is an annoying glitch that you should be aware of. You need to check to see where the end of your video is and stop recording right before the end. Otherwise it goes into a paused recording mode and if you try to stop it at that point it just keeps saying stopping and never comes out. Tried powering down and then tried to finalize the disk, but nothing worked. So unless you want to waste a couple of DVD+R disks before you figure this out be aware of it. I suppose you could use the +RW disks but the bottom line is you still would have wasted an hour or more recording the disk and would have no access to it. When you do encounter the problem using the DVD+R and try to use it it just says the disk is invalid.
What I have subsequently done is just record the wall at the end of my DV's for a few minutes so that at least you get all of your home video recorded to disk.
Hope this helps out anyone who has this machine.
Otherwise its great, turned off the macrovision and can record perfect quality dvd's from rentals or owned movies.
