I have two dvd images that are roughly 3.2gb in size.
The problem is that my two stand alone units do not play these discs.
The newer unit (Samsung DVD V3650) just gives me an error saying that it cannt reconize the disc.
And my old school unit (Philips DVD 950) just makes this funnyass grinding noise, sounds like its keeps on searching on the disc.
Both of these units have played all my previous burned fuji (TY01) backups without any problems what so ever.
The only thing that i can think what makes these dics different is the fact that they are only around 3gb in size.
Next i re-burned one of the discs by adding 1gb of misc .rar files into the main directory of the dvd-video, just to fill up the disc to around 4.3gbs.
After doing this my Philips DVD950 played it without any problems.....
So what im asking if there is any options in nero that would automactily fill up the free space at the end of a disc for me.
I remeber reading about a checkbox for dvd-video compatiblity, when nero automaticly uses up to 1gb of space.
Is there any way to get nero to use up 4gb of space...
is this a common problem?
thanks

"nero ...is this a common problem? "
Yes, nero may be the problem in making data disks on DVDs. I could never get it to work in my players ( would choke at ~1 GB point). Switched to Record now max ( prsassi eingine) and have not had a problem since
To be specific, the dvd player would not play the entire long file written by nero on my dvd data disk
Nero 6.... has a problem writting data disks. -
Your DVD is too small. Yes this is a common problem with older DVD Players, and newer "pickey" DVD players.
Pad it to a min of 2,000,000 sectors (just over 4gig), as you did. To make the task easier, try dummy file. It creates a 0 fill file to the exact space you need. Use google to search for it.
Nero should have a dvd compatibility check box, don't know, don't use it. You can use img tools classic. Create a folder, place your VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders in it, and the dummy file. Img tools will create an ISO with the dummy file.
