  1. I have a Philips DVDR80 TV recorder and i would like to re-author VOB files from my DVD-R .

Recorder make 1 Vob file per scudeled record.

    - When i record my prefered TV series i program the timer to starts earlier than the serie begins and it finishes later.

    - Now i would to suppress these useless sequences that i got before and the serie. ( adverts, films trailers ... )

    - Is there a software or a method to re-author a VOB file easily ?

I only want to suppress frames from the VOB file, i will keep audio and i don't to encode or change quality)

    - Next i would like to put back the new VOB files to Nero on my PC DVD writer and burn a clean DVD.

    Thanks for you help,
    Laurent.

I've done the same thing only with .VRO files. I used Womble MPEG Video Wizard to edit out the unwanted stuff. It'll open .VOB files, but I think you're going to be stuck reencoding to MPEG2. I don't know of any editing app that'll edit a .VOB and save it out without changing it to a MPEG file. Then you'd need to re-author the files to .VOB.

I don't know apps which can edit the vob files as is, as i'm used to de-muxing them. once u get used to it it's a simple procedure - using vobedit to demux and almost any reasonable app will open the .m2v video file that u get from it...
With all due respect... and there is respect...

  5. Well, i've tried "tmpgenc dvd author" but this software is not able to recognises the AC3 audio track inside the VOB file.

Only video is properly useable. How to explain that please ?

Is there another software that allow to cut, split VOB files and make Menu ?

    Thanks for your support.

The new AC3 encoder plugin costs $30.

Click on the link in your post.

  7. Well, i already got the AC3 Plugin and it has been installed as well.

However sometimes TMPGEnc DVD Author is not able to read audio track although others VOB readers can.

Is there other software that can author VOB files directly without re-encoding files ?

  8. if your file structure is a valid dvd, and all you want to do is chop some video off of beginning and some off the end, simply use the start frame/end frame function in DVDShrink's reauthor mode.

If you want to create a menu, then you'll have a bit more of a struggle. You could demux the VOB with the IFO Mode of ReJig, then multiplex them back together with TMPGEnc, and then author with TDA. For some reason, the basic TDA will accept AC3 after this process. Then you could use the 'set as start frame' and 'set as end frame' function in TDA to edit.
