  1. I have backed up over 200 DVDs and they mostly are pristine; however, I have had some problems lately. I believe it is my Sony CX985V 400 Disc Changer, cause the discs will play perfect in my portable 7" widescreen Polaroid DVD player, Xbox, and set top Pioneer player. So it has to be the Sony player.

But since I use it mainly, I was curious if any of you had any tricks to fix this problem? Other than just not using the changer? It is brand new, only about a month and half old (sony changer). I have 190 backed up discs in there now that play perfect from start to finish. However, I recently backed up my Alias seasons 1 and 2, and they will boot go thru the start up process, go to menu play perfect to here. Let you watch the bonus features fine, but when you start the shows/movie it skips automatically to each chapter plays a split second and skips to next chapter. The discs that do this are:

    Alias Season 1 and 2
    Holes
    My Boss' Daughter
    25th Hour

No reason really, I am backing them the EXACT same way with the same Ritek G04 media I have used for the other 200 discs that play fine. So I just am at a loss as to why these discs do it? Any ideas you gurus have out there?

Thanks in advance for the tips.

Do they do this every time (i.e. have you tried reripping and reburning?). Just a shot in the dark really - I very occasionally (like twice in the last 50 rips) find that a rip "hasn't worked" for unknown reasons (dirty disc or something I guess), and redoing it fixes it.

  3. Yea, I thought that as well and tried them again. In fact, I wasted about 6 discs trying 25th hour a lot of different ways. Did the exact same thing everytime. Weird. Thanks for the reply though, keep them coming.

Describe the tools you used to rip it, and what modes you used with those tools.

  5. Well, here goes:

    1. Insert DVD into drive

    2. Rip with MTR (same settings as the Band of Brothers post)(Have tried DVDBackup and OSex with same result)

    3. Compress with DVD2OneX. SETTINGS: Disk Copy, only copying the English audio, Variable (have tried Constant as well)

    4. Burn with Toast 6.0.x With disc named same as original DVD with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders present. No .DS files or anything else.

Insert in DVD Player and enjoy, except for a few titles listed above.

I'd say to try DVDRemaster instead of DVD2OneX, and see if it makes a difference. Let us know how it turns out.
