  1. Dear all:

    Please! Please Help!

I have used Netmeeting (@ MSN Messenger 6.0/6.1) for
months. However, the Netmeeting doesn't work recently
after I setup a Microsoft wireless router. This router
is now connecting with my old desktop PC and a notebook.
My Desktop is using Windows 98 SE and my friend is using
Windows XP. The Firewall functions have been disable on
both PCs but it still doesn't work! Someone told me that
it may be caused by the hardware firewall at the router
but I have no idea about how to do it. Is anyone here
can give me some advices about this? Anyone knows the alternatives can be used at Windows XP?

Thanks very much for your help!

Microsoft is replacing Netmeeting with another program, Office LiveMeeting. Netmeeting is being retired. Netmeeting is a router-unfriendly application simply because of that fact that it uses dynamic ports - meaning that every time the application is opened, it is using different ports to operate. It does not work well behind any NAT firewall. Some people have been able to get this application to work by opening up all the ports for certain triggers.

This is not recommended, but here is the information to set it up. Beyond this, there is nothing else that can be done. If this info does not solve your problem, please contact Microsoft.

    Triggers = 389 , 522 , 1503 , 1024 , 1720 , 1731
Incoming ports (the same for all triggers) = 1-64535

All the ports are TCP. You can also try putting your machine in the DMZ and make sure that you have upgraded the firmware on the router.

  3. First of all, thanks very much, Roundabout. Thanks for your info.

However, I'm not really fully understand about the trigger and incoming ports. Please give me more info if you don't mind. By the way, I couldn't find any info about the Office Livemeeting at microsoft.com. Do you know where can get such info?

    Thanks.
