  1. Hello:
I have authored a mpeg file to burn as a movie and it resulted in a file to big for the DVD disk. I used the utility DVTOOL to split the file into two parts, the first part ran fine it gave me the output file then burned it down to a DVD disk "however" when I tried to get the output file on the second half of the split file I get the reading error at address 00516E68 IN TMPGEnc Author.

I don't understand what,s going on I followed the directions in DVTOOL (actually I split the file twice to make sure I did it correctly) exactlly as it is written.

What do I need to do to get TMPGEnc Author to recognize the second part of the file? Is there something I should do to prevent this from happening again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I have a files that's too big I just author and create the DVD in TMPGEnc DVD Author (click 'Ignore' when it tells you the file is too big). Then open the DVD files in DVD Shrink and reduce the size to fit.

BobK's suggestion works great for me, too, and with other DVD authoring apps as well. No more tearing your hair out and re-encoding from scratch when you overshoot your estimated size and make something a bit too big for your disc. Just Shrink it.
