I've copied about 150 movies so far, and DVD Shrink with deep analysis usually takes around an hour or so. However yesterday and today any activity that I'm doing with my drive is taking twice as long. I duplicated a movie - Family Man - last night and it took 2 1/2 hours!! This morning I was using DVD Decrypter to rip a movie, and it took just under an hour to do this (when it use to take only 20 minutes or so).

I just used my burner to compare and it copied the movie in the time that it use to. Is this an indication that my DVD Rom drive is going bad? Granted, it's gotten a lot of use the last couple of months, it's only about 6 months old. Any ideas??

(by the way, the dvd rom drive came with my emachines computer, so I don't know specifically what brand it is)

I would make sure DMA is still enabled, other than that, it could be a drive problem.

Yes, that's exactly what happened to me. After an OS reinstall my DVD rom drive had gone from DMA to PIO, which was horrifically slow. I kept trying to change it back to DMA in device manager but it wouldn't work. I got round it by uninstalling/removing the secondary IDE that had both drives on, then when I did a reboot the comp automatically re-found the secondary IDE and I was back to DMA and 'normal' speeds again.
