OOPs should clearup that movies i play on ps2 have been succesfully ripped previously, the problem is not dirty disks, nor lense in reader, it just won't read all of the movie it's like it times out! if you know what i mean? (but only sometimes) like i said it will analyze the whole movie but encoding is errored,,strange,,

I got that same error when backing up a movie. I used decryter, smartripper, shrink, dvd x copy, and even tried to copy and paste the video_ts. I posted about on here but I never got a response that would get around the problem. My conclusion was that the problem was a burn error on the disc when it was created. I was never able to find a way to create a descent backup because I was getting the error on one of the main movie vobs. If you can determine if the error is with one of the menu vobs or a vob thats part of the extras on the movie you could probably get around that by reauthoring the movie. Otherwise it sounds like you're out of luck. I would bet that if you could get another copy of the same movie and tried backing it up you would have no problems at all.

Thanx for the reply 4smiley20, I believe it to be a random VOB in the movie itself if possible, i have tried both encoding ALL files and Movie only and still get this, check this out, i got three copies of one movie and the same with each! (latest release) yet a friend of mine backed up a copy of the same movie first time! WEIRD ! maybe just a case of reading sensitivity or something? just can't believe this could just drop out and become a random problem! still have faith in the programs!
Will be patient and wait till this is sorted, obviously a difficult problem for ALL.
Cheers

as daft as it sounds i had the same problem with my nec 1300a. the daft bit is, that someone sugested i checked my hard drive so i scanned it and fixed the errors and it works fine now. i know it doesn't make sense but it worked. give it a go what you got to lose.
