dvd data disk copying

all topics in this forum is almost all about copying dvd movies.. but what about dvd data disks? i'm new to this copying of dvd's so am asking you people what software should i use in copying dvd data(NOT MOVIE) disks.

also, what is the best software for burning my home movies into dvd format that has the best quality.

1) Nero says it can do this, don't hold me to it though...haven't tried, if not than rip to hd then burn.

2) As far as encoding to mpeg2(dvd), my preference is Mainconcept mpeg encoder, otherwise a lot of people use Tmpgenc.
