vids:MP34 decompressor error ?????

i dl a .avi but when i try to play it or convert it, it says thats there is on codec for this particular .avi . This is the biggest thing..... I HAVE EVERY NEW CODEC ON MY COMPUTER.. i was havin this bs problem a couple of months ago and dl every new codec that was out.. even went to microsoft site and dl that new codec 4 thats out for it media player... its like dam.... HOW MANY FUCKIN CODECS THATS OUT THERE ?!?!?!?!??!? AND Y CANT ALL PEOPLE USE THE SAME ONE INSTEAD OF ONE THAT NO ONE CAN FIND... but when i click on the .avi file and click on the preview tab it comes up and gives this error " vids:MP34 decompressor error " so can anyone tell me where to find this codec at ?????

Full ACK. Why are so many codecs in existence.It seems, that every programmer tries to invent the codec wheel from start and forces the user to install his/her codec. It would be enough to have one codec for each kind of compression, but to have 10 codecs for one compression is a PAIN. What's worse, most of the codecs don't work together: you have to switch and/or deinstall them to get different programs to work.This makes no sense, because not one of the different codec is really sooooo much better than the other one.Stop the inflation of codecs!

i been had 3.11 alpha and i have already dl the now 4.0 but it still didnt do anything..... also its my fault ... its MP43..... NOT 34.....

I had the same problem, but I was able to find the codec at http://www.driverguide.com and seached for the mp43 file. I had no problem on viewing at home, but at work everytime I tried to play the movie, it downloaded the codec from microsoft, but told be it was unable to load. One of the best download files is mpeg4x.zip
