  1. I started using AutoGK to convert DVD to DivX/XviD today. It works great, there is just one question I am having trouble finding an answer to.

In AutoGK, you can select the output size from either a predefined size, a custom size, or target quality (in percentage). The problem is, I am dealing with a clip that is only a couple of minutes long, and trying to figure out the lowest size I can make it, while still having the quality decent. There are many bit-rate calculators out there, but they generally require the 'output size' in the calculations, and that is what I don't know.

Is the only way just to experiment with custom sizes ? (5 megs.. 10 megs..) or is there a better way to figure out the size a 2 minute long file in decent quality 'should be' ?

It comes down to bitrate. I would consider a decent quality Divx to have a bitrate of at least 1000kbps. Assuming the file had 128kbps audio and 1000kpbs video the resulting two minute clip would be 16-17mb.

yes or experiment with diff quality settings (only one pass needed so twice as quick)
I agree about bitrate over 1000k generally looks pretty good 700k and under is low quality.
