  1. When burning VCDs on Nero, it would often time ask you to convert/re-encode the format of certain videos that aren't suitable for VCD

    OK- my question is.. does it permanently change the file on my computer? Say.., if it's originally a high quality divx file, or some other better quality formats.. would Nero change the format to MPEG-1 and reduce its quality --and possibly reducing the filesize too?

    Cause if it does, then I guess I'd have to start makin duplicates of my files that are to be burned

  2. No. Nero simply creates a temporary standard-compliant vcd(or svcd) compatible file for burning to the vcd(svcd). When it's done, Nero deletes the temporary file. No fuss, no muss. You don't have to back anything up.
